In Conjunction with Bee Creek Photography we have created a 2010 Parrot Calendar featuring the Parrots of AARR. The calendars are almost gone get yours while they last!

The downturn in our economy has led to an increase number of people giving up their birds and has put a huge strain on the sanctuary. Many birds have been in homes for twenty or more years before they have been given up so it is not an easy adjustment for the birds. Austin Avian Rescue works hard to rehabilitate the birds who have behavioral and nutritional issues then try to find new homes for these birds, but that is not always an easy task and can be time consuming. Those that cannot be adopted out will have to live out the remainder of their lives at the sanctuary. Many of these birds live between fifty and hundred years old and that’s a lot of food and care.

Tod Grubbs and Cynthia Hestand of “Bee Creek Photography” of Spicewood Texas have been parrot owners for years and wanted to put both of their loves together (Parrots and Photography) and help the local Avian rescue operation. The Photographers came into the aviary multiple times over the summer and captured some amazing images. We are very excited about this project and hope you will help support AARR and Bee Creek Photography.
